emlyon and Mistral AI teamed up to train students & leaders in AI issues last week
Lyon, June 3, 2025 – emlyon business school announces signing a partnership with Mistral AI, a French startup pioneer in artificial intelligence. Together, the two institutions are launching a series of initiatives to integrate artificial intelligence into training and research, with a common goal: to support companies in the transformations at work.
Two new BtoB and BtoC courses designed for professional audiences
This partnership provides for the creation of two separate training courses from 2026:
- The first will take the form of a certifying program for the general public, combining technical contributions provided by Mistral AI and content on managerial transformation designed by emlyon.
- The second training will be an unprecedented B2B executive offer, co-constructed by the two partners and intended for executives and managers. It will aim to give them the keys to understand the uses of AI and integrate them effectively into their activities, decisions, and the transformation of their organization.
A business school that is a precursor in terms of AI
This partnership is part of an AI strategy long-standing by emlyon, which results in a global investment of 14 million euros each year, or 10% of the School’s activity.
emlyon is a pioneering business school in terms of AI, notably with:
- A dedicated Institute (Artificial Intelligence and Management Institute – AIM) bringing together about fifteen professor-researchers;
- Two research centers (QUANT for quantitative methods in management science and MTCI for digital innovation in marketing);
- A dozen training courses dedicated to AI(such as the Bachelor of Science Data Science for Responsible Business, the Master in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence Strategy, the different MSc around Data Science or Data analytics and several continuing education programs)
- The integration of mandatory modules around AI in all programs.
A global strategy supported by concrete uses
This ambition also translates into pedagogy, where teachers integrate AI in their approaches. Some examples:
- Guillaume Coqueret, professor of finance at emlyon and head of the QUANT research center, uses language models (LLMs) to generate rating benchmarks for educational purposes;
- Aurélien Baillon, professor of economics at emlyon and coordinator of the Malakoff Humanis chair on the mental health of SME leaders, tests an AI assistant designed to support students with difficulties with mathematical concepts;
Furthermore, emlyon attaches particular importance to the anthropological consequences of AI and the reflexivity to be developed among students with regard to new technologies, and recruits teachers at the interface of social sciences and AI.
This partnership will also benefit the students of the School from 2025, with several initiatives implemented within existing courses to familiarize them with the professional uses of AI. Collaborative projects, hackathons and experiments will complement emlyon’s training, with the support of Mistral AI teams. In addition, a secure internal artificial intelligence platform called LuminAi was deployed in 2025 to all employees and will be open to students starting from September 2025.
"This partnership with Mistral AI reflects our desire to train students and leaders capable of leading major transformations related to artificial intelligence. By partnering with a French technological player, we are choosing an AI aligned with the values of the School,' says Isabelle Huault, President of the Executive Board and Managing Director of emlyon business school.
"This partnership with emlyon allows us to bring our technological expertise closer to those who will shape the uses of tomorrow. Training both students and professionals is essential to sustainably anchor artificial intelligence in the French economy and society," says Audrey Herblin-Stoop, Vice President Public Affairs at Mistral AI.
